Cloud Server Vs Dedicated Server

Cloud Server

Cloud Server is actually a virtual real time environment hosted by multiple connected server all at once.Cloud servers can be configured to provide levels of performance, security and control. As compared to dedicated server which is hosted on the physical hardware the cloud server is hosted on the visualized environment. In cloud server you only pay for the exact amount of server spaced used. Its a great option for businesses that need to optimize IT performance without spending huge amount on purchasing the IT infrastructure.

Dedicated Server

Dedicated server is a type of server in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone else. This is more flexible than VPS as organizations have full control over the server, including choice of operating system, hardware, software etc. Dedicated servers are great for large businesses, organizations that require exceptionally high levels of data security, or organizations that have predictable demand necessitating all of their servers running continuously.

Comparison Between Cloud Server And Dedicated Server are as below:-

Cost Regulation

This is the first and foremost thing that interests every potential customer. Well, in terms of cost, dedicated server we decide on the amount of resources that we need and choose a package and then pay monthly fees depending on the type of package we have chosen. While in cloud server pricing, we pay only for the resources we have used, and that’s it. If, by chance, we need more resources, we don’t have to change our package. This offers us a flexibility that we don’t get with dedicate server.

Resources Scaling

With dedicated server, we get one server that has its own limited capabilities. This practically means that a CPU that has its limits and also a limited disk space. If we wish to expand its capabilities, we would have shut down the machine and change the CPU or add a new hard drive. With cloud server, we can add resources on the fly, without ever having to shut down.

Remote Control

While we have administrative access to a dedicated server, there are many things that this setup doesn’t allow us to do. For example, we remotely reboot a frozen server, install or reinstall our operative system or gain access to the console when using cloud server. Dedicated server does not have this option and somebody in the data center needs to do this for us.

In Case of Physical Failure

If a physical crash occurs on a dedicated server, we will be forced to take our back-up and restore it on a newly built machine with a newly installed dedicated server. With cloud server, since there are many servers working as a group, another machine will take the burden and the crash is prevented. This is especially good for professional web sites that cannot afford being down even for a minute.
